Writers: How long would it take you to sum up your story?

For me it depends on which story I'm talking about. But usually I'd do the same thing. Go off on this really long tangent trying to explain every single thing of importance until my audience is asleep and snoring. I've realized that most people that ask, are just asking out of being polite and don't actually care so now I usually do the opposite and under explain. So instead of putting them to sleep, I sum it all up in a sentence leaving people very unimpressed, like, that's it? It's a good thing I really don't talk about my novels very much. Every so often if the person asking me is close to me I'll just show them the summary or pitch and let it stand for itself.
